Chair Upholstery provides your furniture a new life and also gives a visual pleasure. Upholstery can be done on most of the furniture especially the regular used but popularly it’s the chairs that are commonly upholstered. Chairs are being used in multiple areas of your home be it living room, dining room or garden areas, chairs are often used for seating. With such use it is usual that these furniture undergo wear and tear, making it look old and rusty. Chair upholstery thus can solve this problem and can easily revive the furniture piece giving it a new life and a long one.

Upholstery mostly depends upon the fabric used for the process. A variety of fabric type is found from natural to synthetic and with different patterns and designs to choose from.

Synthetic fibers are named as they are process and made by man. These fabrics undergo many chemical processes and designed for a human friendly use. They are also durable and cheaper than the natural fabrics used in upholstery.

Synthetic fabrics for upholstery:

Some of the synthetic upholstery fabrics used are:

Acrylic: this synthetic fiber imitates wool. It has the capability to resist wrinkle, wearing, fading and soiling.
Nylon: it is mostly used alone, but when blended with other fibers it makes up as one of the strong fabrics. Nylon has the characteristic of being resilient and when in a blend it eradicates the crushing effects as seen in the velvet. It does not soil or wrinkle but has a tendency to fade.
Polyester: this fabrics is usually used in a blended form. The reason it is rarely used alone is to avoid or resist wrinkle, napped crushing and fading. Polyester is usually blended with many but when blended with wool it provides a pilling effect that might require to change in some time.
Acetate: this synthetic fabric is made to imitate silk. Acetate fabric have the characteristic to resist soiling, shrinking and pilling. But it does have a tendency to face if kept in sun or in the open for a long time. Therefore it is not ideal to be used on furniture that is of everyday use.
Rayon: this synthetic fiber is made as an imitation to linen, silk and cotton. It does has the tendency to wrinkle but is very durable. Rayon is developed to be a family friendly and a practically implemented fabric of use.
Microfiber: this popular synthetic upholstery fabric is made from polyester, and has a texture of velvet like and is very durable. It has the tendency to resist stains, water and is fading resilient. It is a practical fiber for areas in your home that is of heavy use.
Olefin: this synthetic fiber is ideal to be used on furniture that is of heavy use and has a tendency to wear in short duration. It is ideal to use this fabric both indoors and outdoors as it is very resilient to sun, humidity, stains and abrasion.
