Decorating tips with the roller blinds

If you are tired of your old blinds, but you don’t have enough money to buy them, you could simply decorate your roller blinds and make them look elegant and new. When remodeling a house, people generally pay attention to changing the color of the walls or reorganizing furniture, completely neglecting the appearance of their windows. However, you simply think about how many times during the day you look out the window and you will have the idea of why changing your window treatments can be an important part of a remodeling project within your home.

Now, if you are satisfied with the roller blinds you already have, but you simply want to refresh your appearance, there are some things you can do to redecorate your blinds.

Before starting the task of remodeling, you must ensure that the blinds are correctly dusted and cleaned, since you do not want anything to get in your creativity. Collect the dust with a duster or a vacuum and use some water and a clean sponge to clean the blind. As the blind is already separating, you can wash it more thoroughly by soaking it in a bathtub.

Decoration of fabric to cloth

The first option to decorate the roller blinds is by joining a piece of cloth on its surface. The procedure is quite simple. The blind must measure in order to determine the size of the fabric that will then be hitting the blind. The fabric must be a few wider inches on all sides than the blind, not only to minimize the possibility of measurement error, but also to relieve the glued process. Now choose the fabric. You can opt for some natural or synthetic materials, unique or print, it depends completely on you. However, better opt for some light materials such as cotton instead of heavy such as wool or velvet, since these can affect the functionality of their blinds.

The next step includes pasting the fabric on the blind. Use spray glue or a glue gun to apply the glue evenly on the blind surface. Start placing the fabric from top to bottom, making sure there are no wrinkles or bubbles. When it is over, you can wrap the extra fabric around the blind and paste it on the back or simply cut it.

When the roller blind dries up, it’s time to add the finish. To properly seal the blind, add some white glue to the fabric that will prevent it from fraying. If you do not plan to roll the blinds up and down too often, a matte sealant along the edges will do the trick. After everything has dried completely, the roller blind is ready to rise again.

Blind paint decoration

Now, if you have some free time in your hands, you could make things even more interesting adding some color to your blinds. Do not worry, since this is not too complicated, but it implies a little more creativity and imagination. Prepare some water, a little fabric paint, and some sponges. For simpler forms, use regular sponges (square, circle), but if you want to carry your roller blind decoration one step further, buy some sponges in different forms such as flowers, animals, fruits, or simply make some on your own.
